Making better use of geospatial data

Written by: Keysoft Solutions

Whether we know it or not, when we design future landscapes, we’re working with existing features and creating new ones that will eventually co-exist spatially in the real world. Accessing and making sense of spatial data is a key factor in understanding our site and its constraints, and assessing the impact our designs will have on the landscape – all of which is critical for ensuring its success.

In response to our rapidly changing digital world and the increased use of spatial data, and informed by feedback from our recent survey, the LI Digital Practice Spatial Data workstream, in association with LI Midlands, is planning a series of online spatial data and landscape architecture events.

At this first online event, we’ll set the scene by explaining the value of spatial data, how you can access it through free resources, and what software options are available to everyone. We’ll also provide landscape examples of how spatial data is being used for landscape character assessment and project delivery.
