KeySCAPE RT is a dedicated softworks application that runs within Autodesk Revit (not Revit LT), allowing you to quickly create, modify and schedule your planting design proposals.
We have been impressed with the range of features available in KeySCAPE RT and willingness of Keysoft to work with us to enhance the product.
How KeySCAPE enables SLR Consulting to model designs productively using the export to Revit feature.
KeySCAPE’s Softworks ribbon follows a typical planting design workflow from concept to detailed design. Insert plant material as individual specimens, hedge planting beds and grass areas and view them in 2D, 3D or elevation. Specify from our customisable database of over 9500 species or import plant lists from popular spreadsheet formats. Plant annotations and schedules update automatically as your design evolves and changes and project-wide changes to plant specifications and family representations as you move from concept through to detailed design.
Collaboration with KeySCAPE
Improved export options from KeySCAPE, working inside AutoCAD, means you can utilise the speed of generating planting plans in AutoCAD and import your design proposals into Revit, where KeySCAPE RT will convert your 2D drawing to equivalent 3D planting features in Revit. KeySCAPE RT allows you to continue to edit or add new content and issue your final project as a Revit project.
The Project Setup allows you to define your default settings and preferred Annotation Style for the current project and set the default for all projects. This ensures everyone working on the project can delivers consistent content that complies with your practice or project standards.
Level of Graphic Detail
KeySCAPE allows you to control the visual display of each object in both 2D and 3D views, allowing you to set the level of detail required on an object-by-object basis. This means that you can represent planting using high detailed families in the foreground, simplified families in the midground and extrusion draped over the surface in the background. Set the 2D representation to flat topped to have a consistent pattern applied to the object, even when it is draped on the surface.
Tree Pits and Rootballs
KeySCAPE allows you to define the rootball size and shape for individual plants or set a below ground depth to generally represent the rooball zone below planting beds, hedges and grass areas. For Specimens you can additionally include a tree pit, with defined layers of in-fill and a walled frame.
Own your data! You will inevitably have your own preferred plant palettes or want to share specifications within a project and with others in your team. The customisable KeySCAPE database allows you to create your proprietary specifications specific to your company and at hand when you need it. The database can be customised to support your workflows and shared from a secure, backed-up location, where everyone in the office can create specifications and generate schedules all to your practice style. The planting database can be shared with others within your organisation using KeySCAPE for AutoCAD, allowing you to have a single source of data for cross-platform project collaboration.
Single Point Specification Manager
The Specification Manager provides a single point where you can automatically update all instances of a specification and planting densities used in the project. This allows you update single species specifications and mix definitions very quickly, allowing you to respond quickly to changing project requirements and plant substitutions.
Growth Over Time
When using the KeySCAPE specific families and extruded visual representations, you are able to simulate growth over time. Using your local knowledge and expertise, you can grow plants on from their planted specification height and spread to their mature height and spread, based on your preferred growth rate, to determine the impact of your proposals for any number of years after planting. Adding mature growth restrictions allows you prevent a plant growing to maturity to simulate the impact of maintenance.
We offer the following recommended specification for the PC, which has been derived from the requirements for Revit 2021 products, published by Autodesk.
