KeyOSC (‘Ordnance Survey Companion’) Mapper is an application providing an easy way to access Ordnance Survey GB mapping in AutoCAD, with performance akin to GIS systems. Connect directly to the online OS Data Hub or to your own locally managed, on-premises datasets. KeyOSC Mapper also provides simple plotting tools to help you build scaled outputs, and rotated views linked to a north point.
OS Data Hub (online)
KeyOSC Mapper allows you to connect your AutoCAD directly to the online OS Data Hub and give you access to the most up-to-date and useful mapping datasets. Search by address or zoom and pan to find your required area of interest then “fix” the background to convert this to AutoCAD entities that can be edited just like any other feature.
OS Data Hub mapping options:
For more information regarding the OS plans and to sign up, please go to the OS Data Hub and create your free account.
KeyOSC Mapper will allow you to additionally connect to your in-house spatial database or tile-based system to load directly into AutoCAD. This enables OS MasterMap data, stored in an Oracle, SQL Server or PostGIS database, to be loaded within the AutoCAD environment. It can also interact directly with a range of corporate datasets.
Mapping data can be loaded into AutoCAD using current view, polygon and buffer filters and can be used as a simple, transient overlay, supporting ‘GIS’ activities such as the analysis of road accident locations, or as AutoCAD entities to use as a base map for your scheme design. When working with a 3D digital terrain model in Autodesk Civil 3D, OS MasterMap can be draped on the surface, and 3D buildings created from OS building height data.
There are a number of features within KeyOSC Mapper that make putting engineering drawings together much quicker. The loading buffer feature is great for producing engineering drawings that cover a long length of road and is very quick and easy to use.
Support for OS Data Hub online
Connect directly to the latest online mapping provided through the OS Data Hub. Access free OpenData for high level mapping or Premium, OS MasterMap data to use as background maps. Convert to the vector mapping AutoCAD entities and use within design projects.
Load In Area
Mapping can be loaded into specific areas based on any closed polyline. If you later require the area to be expanded you simply edit the boundary and the mapping is reloaded.
Work in 3D on your Digital Terrain Models
Use Ordnance Survey Terrain 5 data to quickly produce a surface model in Autodesk Civil 3D. KeyOSC Mapper will automatically drape MasterMap onto the model and uses the Building Height data to create 3D buildings.
Load In Buffer
An alternative way of showing mapping is to load the mapping in a corridor or buffer zone, defined by drawing a centre line and setting an offset distance. You can choose exactly what level of detail is loaded into the buffer area, and the extents of the area can easily be changed as required.
KeyOSC Mapper now includes a MapView window that makes use of the OS Data Hub to quickly display mapping at overview zoom levels. This helps to locate sites and roads quickly prior to inserting mapping into your CAD drawing.
OS Names Search
KeyOSC can use the OS Data Hub to search for Postcodes, Street Names, or Towns and Districts. Then load the mapping for that location.
For on-premises use, GO Loader is the complete, easy-to-use solution for loading content delivered in Geography Markup Language (GML) into your Oracle (Spatial and Locator), SQL Server 2008 or database. Its unique ‘schema aware’ technology makes it different from any other tool on the market. All GML datasets come with an XML Schema, so just point GO Loader at the schema and it adapts itself to support the dataset.
Toggle Area Fills
Automatic loading of data can be controlled by the toggle area command. Save printing costs by setting the area fills to ‘off’.
Visual Style Support
KeyOSC Mapper supports (schema 9) visual styling including the ‘Standard’ OS MasterMap style, ‘Backdrop’, ‘Light’ and ‘Outdoor’, which has been designed for using maps in the open. We also continue to offer the ‘classic’ KeyOSC map styling enjoyed by customers for many years.
Plotting Tools and Utilities
Several plotting tools allow for the easy creation and orientation of viewports in which to show the mapping. In addition north symbols, scale bars and borders can easily be inserted into a layout or model view.
